News From Our President Simon Frankruyter
January 2024
Welcome to our first blog! We’re excited to finally launch. Our intent is to keep you up-to-date on the latest Meadows of Aurora Benevolence Fund activities, provide relevant information for seniors, and answer some of your questions.
Do you know that 2023 was an exciting year as our application for charitable status received approval by the federal government?
Let me begin by sharing with you the Vision and Mission of the Meadows of Aurora Benevolence Fund.
- Our Vision is to enable seniors to thrive at their optimal capability.
- Our Mission is to offer supportive wellness, education, and housing bursaries to assist seniors with challenging needs.
SO HOW DO WE ASSIST SENIORS who are in need of practical choices as they experience support gaps?
WE OFFER 3 TYPES OF BURSARY PROGRAMS
1. WELLNESS CARE PACKAGE BURSARY
Individualized health and social support to meet short term need.
Our GOAL is to assist elderly individuals who are frail, have difficulty with everyday tasks and/or have limited mobility requiring assistance with activities of daily living to improve and/or maintain their daily level of functioning. This may include short care needs such as oral, vision, fitness, nutrition, psychological, and spiritual care not covered by other services.
2. EDUCATION AND PRACTICAL ASSISTANCE BURSARY
Combining learning with Individualized training in managing physically debilitating care needs.
Our GOAL is to offer resources to enable individuals to understand their condition, to learn how to apply new knowledge, to train and become engaged in dealing with life issues related to aging, and to develop new skills to enable increased ability to handle challenges of aging.
3. HOUSING OPTIONS BURSARY
Funding is unavailable at the present time *
Our GOAL is to enable seniors in need to access suitable accessible housing. The bursary is directed to those requiring short term immediate care, as well as those requiring short-stay respite and convalescent care.
In addition to the bursaries, Continued Education seminars and workshops are held during the year with senior input strongly encouraged.
*All of our bursaries rely on donations from people like yourself as well as corporate sponsors.
Thank you for reading. We encourage your input.
